Dallas Chic Fest Vendor Photo Shoot...

On this past Saturday, I had a vendor photo shoot 4 the 2011 Dallas Chic Fest.
Those who know me know I'm shy about photo's.
Kachelle let me have some creative control with my shoot.
The photographer, Denise Toombs, had a great idea & knew exactly how I
wanted to be photographed. I can't wait to see finished pics.

I finished my pieces for the 9x12 On Paper Show last night & got it postmarked today...
deadline day.  I'm gonna try & get ahead of my next deadline stuff I swear!

In Etsy news, available today are my 2010 Holiday Box Sets.
The boxed cards consist of 10 blank  Christmas eye chart cards to a set.
Check them out here!

I will be working on a birth announcement card tonight that I conceived in
a dream a few weeks ago.  I just need to sketch it out and mess w/it a bit.
Also, I hope to start sketching again every night before bed now that I
 have some free time again.
Several of my unfinished sketches are screaming to be completed...

Plein Aire...

I had a great time sketching outside in the rose garden @ the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. I met Doug Clark & Elaine Taylor, the Gallery Manager of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. It was such a beautiful morning & I took my blanket ready to sketch on the lawn of the gardens. Well, to my surprise, they watered the grass so I set-up to sketch on this bench.

I got all set up and did not feel like sketching flowers & such so I finished this bird sketch that has been trapped in my sketchbook.  Her left wing is missing because I started the sketch @ the left side of my paper as if she was landing  onto the book this way.  I seem to do things like that when I sketch and I don't know why.  When I sketch, are the characters that come to life still traveling some how and I capture them this way?

I did take a few pictures of the rose garden and just maybe I will sketch some roses soon.

Plein Aire @ Bontanic Gardens...

I've packed up my art supplies...

A group of artists from TAC (Texas Artist Coalition) will meet at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden today from 7:30a.m - too hot a.m.
to sketch & paint in the rose gardens.
Sketching outdoors in a rose garden is the perfect way to end my hectic week!
