The Canvas Project Vol. 3

A Visual Encyclopedia
(top row left 2 right: Ambitious, Bolero)
(bottom left: Disturbance)

Each person interprets the same word differently.  Some factors include native language, geographic
location, age and general view of the word.

(backs of canvases)

The Brooklyn Art Library is creating a visual encyclopedia where each artist is asked to visually interpret three words that are assigned to them randomly onto 4x4 inch canvases. A visual encyclopedia book will then be created that includes at least one canvas from each artist. An exhibition will be held at The Brooklyn Art Library on December 3, 2010.
The words I was assigned are: Ambitious, Bolero & Disturbance

I must now wrap the canvases up and ship them to the art house...
bye-bye babies.

Stain Seal Wait...

As you can see I was a busy girl today.  I stained the canvases, applied my sketches and sealed them w/resin.  Must  wait 4 coat #1 to dry, do some touch up work on them, take final photos, label up 4 the gallery and finally, mail them.

Sneek Peak No. 2

More sketch manipulations...

This sketch is my representation of the word "bolero".
I just thought I would take a break last night.  I looked over @ my artist board and my work was calling me
so I answered, but I didn't work long.

Brooklyn Sneek Peak...

Painted & manipulated this sketch...

She is to represent the word "ambitious"

Just wanted to give a little peak into my crazy world @ the moment.  I have totally completed the sketches, now I need to manipulate them onto the 4 x 4 canvases.  My mind is racing w/excitement because I love manipulating my sketches and giving them another life...a re-birth if you will.  Stay tuned, more to come!

Canvas Project Vol. 3...

Worked on my Art House Gallery pieces tonight and I'm getting closer to completing them.  Of course I will share them when done.

Meanwhile...the custom dress I ordered a few months ago is done and is in transit to me as of this past Monday.

Thanks to Holly of Raw Hemline 4 making such a great piece of art...she truly speaks to my fashion style.  Holly creates her artistry in Perth, Australia.
If her style speaks to you, click on the above Raw Hemline link & check out her Etsy shop.

I love the dress so much, I did a loose sketch of it complete w/Holly's shop name inside .  I will send her a print..hope she likes it.

We Have A New Home moving card...

My giant girl was re-born and I manipulated a house in her arms.
This set of 8 moving cards is now offered in my shop!

I'm burning my candle @ both ends.  Tonight, I need to finish my IF illustration 4 submission, work on my Brooklyn art pieces & make 9 more buttons for my son's theatre group, Kids Who Care
(at least I have 1 done).

AND...do a quote 4  100 "Save The Date" cards.
(I need a glass of wine:)

brooklyn art library...

The Things I Dream About Project
(mailed Thurs. May 28)

Question...what do you dream about?  Create an original piece of artwork no bigger that 4x6 inches using your dreams as inspiration.

The above piece is titled "Back to my Roots".   Since reinventing my life several years ago, I'm making my dreams come true.   I have a recurring dream about returning to my roots (who I am, my art, my natural hair, yadda yadda yadda).  I embrace my dreams and I'm no longer afraid to step out of my box and make my dreams a reality.

The exposed roots of the plant and the long flowing hair that has no end symbolizes growth.  I refuse to be stagnant.

maverick western store...

My friend Shirley has been invited to the Maverick Fine Western Wear preferred customer party & trunk show co-hosted with Cowboys & Indians magazine.  Shirley, Mandy and I will be viewing  Coreen Cordova's Traveling Trunk Show Jewelry .  The Maverick will also be introducing Bolingo Bags by Susan Todd.  We love looking @ jewelry & bags...refreshments & hors d'oeuvres will also be there!

When I get home from this great event I must finish my dream art piece and mail it off to Brooklyn tomorrow & watch the Real Housewives of NYC.  Wish me luck...

sketching time...

if-equipment...

Well, this is what I have so far.  I thought I would sketch an eye exam machine as my "equipment".  This machine and I have been together since I was 8.  I'm going to tweak this a bit and up load tonight.

I'm also working on a project for the Art House Co-Op in Brooklyn called "The Things I Dream About Project".  Recently I have not been dreaming because I've been soooo tired.  I do, however, remember a recurring dream I have so I will sketch it...stay tuned.
